Numbers can be compared in 3 ways either in greater than , less than and equal to. The mathematical symbol for greater than is ” > “, less than is ” < ” and equal to is ” = “.
Example 1: Suppose we take 2 numbers 3 and 5
a) 3 is less than 5 [ In mathematical form 3 < 5 ]
b) 5 is greater than 3 [ In mathematical form 5 > 3 ]
Statement a and b are same but can represent in two ways.
Example 2: Suppose we take same numbers 5 and 5
a) 5 is equal to 5 [ In mathematical form 5 = 5 ]
